Return here to Tutorial 1 How to create a Style

Tutorial # 2: Filling an ornament, for an inlaid look.  Here are a few examples .

The Tutorial

You need to be using an object or letter that can be filled and has no open edges, like the letter "O" which I used for the second image above.

See images Below for this Tutorial.

Below I am using a leaf font.

Image #1- I applied a golden style.

Image #2- Create a new Layer behind the object. Fill the layer with any image you want. Here I used flood fill and applied a style to the background layer, but you can basically use anything to fill the background.

Image #3 - Now highlight the LAYER that contains your object.  With the Magic Wand tool, click anywhere outside the object. It should now look like image 3, with the dotted lines going around the object and the frame of the image.

Image #4 & 5 - From the Select Menu Choose Inverse. Now the dotted lines are going just around your object.
With the dotted lines still selected, choose Merge Visible from the Layer Menu. The dotted lines are still highlighted.

Now Copy (Ctl-C).  Create New Image and Paste. You end up with your filled object like in Image #6.

Below are two layers with the same font and different styles of overlayed.
